Saxophonist Tom Braxton is a versatile instrumentalist, charismatic performer, and gifted composer whose distinct, melodic sound thrills audiences of all ages.  This native Texan blends elements of jazz, Latin, funk, and R&B to create a sound that is innovative and appealing.  He was inspired to be a jazz musician by his father, James ("J.T.") Braxton, and began playing the alto sax in the 6th grade.  During his college years at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas, Tom formed the jazz fusion band "No Compromise" which toured the southwest and opened concerts for Joe Sample, Stanley Clarke, George Howard, and many others.  Soon after graduating with a Bachelor of Music/Performance degree, Braxton launched a solo career.

For over a decade, Tom has toured extensively with Wayman Tisdale.  He has also shared the stage with many well-known artists including Dave Koz, Rick Braun, George Duke, Kirk Whalum, Jonathan Butler, Jeff Golub, Marcus Miller, Luther Vandross, and Phillip Bailey.  He has opened concerts for numerous jazz greats including Norman Brown, Boney James, Najee, Dave Brubeck, Cab Calloway, Spyro Gyra, The Rippingtons, David Benoit, Pieces of a Dream, Michael Franks, and The Crusaders.

Tom Braxton's sixth CD, "Imagine This," was released in 2007 on the Pacific Coast Jazz label.  The disc highlights Braxton as a producer and arranger and features six of his compositions showing his exceptional skill on soprano, alto, and tenor saxophones as well as keyboards and flute.  Featured artists include Brian Simpson, Kirk Whalum, and Tim Bowman.  Smooth Jazz Therapy declares, "Braxton is a master of smooth, sophisticated contemporary jazz and now with 'Imagine This' his status is boosted even further."
